This is pure Scandimonium, the biggest Scandinavian event of the year with fun live entertainment and endless shopping! I'll be in Minot, North Dakota, for four days of selling all my books and lefse stuff in the Authors Corner — and even singing my lefse song with entertainer William Florian! It's part of the celebrity lefse contest that I will be judging once again this year. Hope to see you there!
For my money, Potato Days kicks off the lefse season. Not only is there the annual National Lefse Cookoff, but there are so many events—like mashed potato wrestling (pictured)—that creatively celebrate all things potato. Plus I'll be there selling all things lefse, including my new novel, Final Rounds, for readers aged 12 and up! Stop by and say hi—and then get your free french fries!
A fun way to learn to make lefse is with friends and/or family members. So round up six kin or buddies, and call 612-926-1877 or email glegwold@lutefisk.com. We come up with a time convenient for all, and then you just show up. I supply all the equipment and plenty of dough, and we do the class. No clean-up necessary! You leave with my recipe, the know-how and confidence to make pretty dang good lefse, and about six rounds of your own creation. Laughter is optional (but inevitable).
