Mahogany & Maple
Mahogany & Maple … doesn’t it sound like a song title? Well, this rolling pin speaks music to me because it is my first! When I started turning the maple barrel, I was going to use this as a trial run in order to get a fuller understanding of how to turn and assemble a rolling pin after all these years of watching others create marvelous pins. But what I thought would be a plain old maple turned out to be rich with red-fleck character. And then the rust red of the mahogany handles, which I took pains to make super smooth, complement the maple superbly. A steel rod and food-safe bearings make for a nice roll.
